Dan and Angie built their dream home in Groton Long Point in 1995. On October 22, 20212, Hurricane Sandy arrived. Dan and Angie were vacationing overseas at the time. The unexpected flood filled their ground floor with seawater, destroying a family room, workshop and laundry room. Their new car parked in their garage was also destroyed. The resulting damage cost them $80,000 and 2 months to repair.
Two years later, Dan and Angie were on another overseas vacaton when the water line feeding their refrigerator began to leak. When they returned several weeks after the leak started, they discovered the second floor was flooded. All of the hardwood flooring in their second floor was destroyed and needed to be replaced. The cost of replacement was $30,000.
